Take Paxil (Paroxetine) exactly as prescribed.

Do not take greater or lesser amounts than recommended. Follow the label.

Take it at the same time each day without regards to meal.

Do not crush, break, or chew extended-release form of Paxil and swallow it whole.

Shake the oral suspension prior to measuring it and measure it using a medicine cup or measuring device.

It can take 4 weeks before symptoms improve. Use it even if feeling well.

Missed Dose
Take it as soon as remembered, although skip it if it is almost time for the next dose and revert to the regular dose. Do not double dose.

Overdose
Seek emergency medical help immediately for symptoms of overdose including extreme drowsiness, tremor, vomiting, confusion, blurred vision, decreased urination, tachycardia, aggression, coma, and seizure.

More Information

• Do not take Paxil with MAOI and other kind of antidepressant due to possible dangerous drug interaction that leads to serious side effects. There are also other kind of medications that interact with Paxil, be sure to inform health care provider regarding medications being taken including dietary supplements and herbal preparations.


• Inform health care provider if you have liver or kidney disease, seizures, glaucoma, bleeding or blood clotting disorder, history of drug abuse or suicidal ideation.


• Paxil is dangerous in pregnant women as it causes serious heart or lung problems in newborn. However, a relapse of depression may occur if Paxil is stopped during pregnancy. Discuss with health care provider risks and benefits of pregnancy.


• Close monitoring is required in the beginning of therapy especially in younger clients as suicidal tendencies are greater at initiation of treatment.


• Do not drink alcohol while taking Paxil as it aggravates drowsiness. Do not partake in activities that require mental alertness.


• Bleeding can occur easily if you take NSAIDs along with Paxil. Do not use without informing health care provider first.
