Take Luvox (Fluvoxamine) as prescribed. Do not take it larger or longer than recommended. Follow label directions.
Do not chew, open, or crush extended-release capsules and swallow it whole because damaging the pill will cause too much of the drug component to be released.
You may take this medication without any regards to food.
Do not abruptly stop taking medication because withdrawal symptoms may be seen. Store at room temperature.
Keep away from direct heat, moisture, or light.
Missed dose:
Take it as soon as remembered.
If it is almost time for the next dose, skip it then proceed to regular dose schedule. Do not double dose.
Overdose:
Seek emergency medical attention if an overdose is suspected.
Nausea and vomiting, trouble breathing, fast heart rate, fainting, and coma, are common symptoms.
Important:
- Avoid alcohol consumption because it increases side effects.
- Avoid opioid analgesic, sleeping pills, antihistamines, muscle relaxants and anti-convulsants and inform health care provider if these medications are regularly being taken. It adds to drowsiness caused by Luvox.
- This medication causes drowsiness, do not partake in any activities requiring mental alertness.
- Do not take this medication if allergic to it or within 14 days after MAOI or any other anti-depressants as it produces life-threatening effects.
- Suicidal ideation may be present during early part of treatment especially for younger individuals. Regular check-up will be needed for the first 12 weeks.
- Inform health care provider regarding intake of prescribed or non-prescribed medication, dietary supplements, vitamins, or any herbal preparations.
- Prior to taking this medication inform physician if you have liver disease, alcohol consumption, seizures, bipolar disorder, or suicidal ideation.
- This medication is under pregnancy category X. This may cause life-threatening or serious lung problems in babies that are newborn whose mothers take Luvox while pregnant. However, pregnant women who stop taking Luvox develops relapse of symptoms. Do not stop taking this medication without consulting your physician.
- Luvox passes into the breast milk and harms the baby.
- Do not give this medication to anyone younger than 18 years.

- Dry mouth, mild nausea, diarrhea or constipation

- Dizziness, drowsiness
- Impotence, decreased libido, decreased sex drive
- Unusual dreams
Seek emergency help for:
- Severe allergic reactions
- Mood or behavior changes

- Insomnia
- Irritability, agitation, impulsivity, hostility, aggression, restlessness
- Depressed, suicidal ideation
- Seizures
- High fever, chills, loss of coordination, stiff muscles, muscle excitability
- Confusion, tachypnea, sweating, arrhythmia
