Lexapro (Escitalopram) is an orally prepared medication that can either be in tablet or capsule form or can be in liquid form.

This medication can be taken without regard to meals. Take this regularly for a couple of weeks.

Follow the dosage and length of time prescribed by your physician.
Missed Dose:

Take the missed dose as soon as remembered. If it is time for the next dose, skip it then continue the regular dose schedule. Do not double dose.

Storage:

Store Lexapro at room temperature 20-25°C (68-77°F). Keep away from children. Also, from excess moisture and heat.

Important:

  • Do not take this medication with nitrates or alpha blockers because this decreases blood pressure into an unsafe level.

  • This medication is not a protection against sexually transmitted diseases or HIV.

  • Do not take Lexapro if sexual activity is determined to be a health risk.

  • Dosage can be adjustment during treatment therapy.

  • Inform health care provider if there is a presence of kidney or liver disease, you have seizures, mania, or any suicidal ideations.

  • Do not take it if allergic to it or to its components.

  • Do not take this medication with Citalopram (Celexa).

  • Consult your health care provider regarding pregnancy.

  • This medication is considered pregnancy category C, which means it is not known whether it can harm an unborn baby or not.

  • It is also not known if this medication can pass through breast milk.

  • Consult health care provider regarding risks and benefits of pregnancy.

  • Dry mouth

  • Headache

  • Increased weating

  • Nausea and vomiting

  • Constipation

  • Anxiety

  • High blood pressure; severe headache, vision blurring

  • Low blood pressure; dizziness or weakness

  • Arrhythmia

  • Irregular pulse

  • Fever or chills

  • Unusual weight loss or weight gain

  • Palpitation

  • Agitation

  • Insomnia

  • Tremor

  • Dizziness

  • Fainting

  • Mood changes

  • Dysuria

  • Impotence

  • Seizure

  • Mental problems

  • Jaundice

  • Excessive fatigue

  • Severe allergic reaction
