Product Description:

Take Isoptin (Verapamil) as directed. This can be taken orally without regards to food. However, do not mix it with grapefruit juice.

Swallow this medication whole; do not chew or crush prior to swallowing. This medication must be taken even when feeling better and it is not advisable to miss a dose.

Also, take it at same time each day to help you remember when to take it.

Drug Class and Mechanism:

Isoptin belongs to class of calcium channel blocker.

This medication works by dilating the blood vessels to lower the blood pressure.

Missed Dose:
If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember it, however, if it is almost time for the next dosage, it is best to skip it then continue with the regular schedule. Do not double dose.

Storage:
Store this medication between 59 and 77 degrees F or 15 and 25 degrees C. This medication must be stored away from light, heat, or moisture and keep it from reach of children and pets.

Important:

• Do not use Isoptin if allergic to it or its contents.


• Do not use if you have heart problems, very low blood pressure, or congestive heart failure


• Do not use if you have atrial flutter or fibrillation and pre-excitation syndromes such as Lown-Ganong-Levine syndrome (LGL) or Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (WPW).


• Do not use if you are taking erythromycin, disopyramide, dofetilide, or eletriptan.


• Do not perform any activities that require mental alertness.


• Inform health care practitioner about taking Isoptin prior to undergoing surgery or dental work-up.


• Various lab tests shall be performed (liver and kidney function, CBC, BP monitoring).


• This medication should not be given to individuals younger than 18 years old.


• Use in caution with elderly.


• Do not breast feed when taking Isoptin.


• Discuss with your health care provider regarding the risks and benefits of pregnancy.
