Cipro (ciprofloxacin) is taken with or without food.

However, do not take it with milk or dairy products or any calcium fortified juices.

Drink plenty of fluids with Cipro to ensure prevention of crystals in the urine.

Storage:

Store Cipro in a room temperature away from direct exposure to light, heat, and moisture. Keep this away from children.

Missed Dose:

If one dose is missed, take it as soon as it is remembered.

However, if it is already time for the next medication, skip the dose and continue with the regular cycle of the dose.

Do not take double dose. If there is suspicion of an overdose, contact your health care provider immediately.

Precautions and Warnings:
Do not take Cipro if there is known allergy to the drug or to its components.

Do not use Cipro if taking Tizanidine (Zanaflex), or having a history of myasthenia gravis.

Also, it is contraindicated if taking antibiotics such as levofloxacin (Levaquin), gemifloxacin (Factive), norfloxacin (Noroxin), moxifloxacin (Avelox), and others.

Inform your health care practitioner if you have a liver or kidney disease, diabetes, joint problems, arrhythmia, muscle weakness, difficulty in breathing, seizure history, hypokalemia, or history of Long QT syndrome.

Cipro may cause tearing or swelling of a tendon, especially in Achilles' heel.

Stop taking this medication and inform your health care provider if there is a sudden development of pain, tenderness, swelling, stiffness, or any movement problems in the joints.

This medication may cause light headedness or dizziness.

Do not engage in activities that require mental alertness. Avoid alcohol at all times.

Cipro (Ciprofoloxacin) may cause some side effects, inform your health care provider if the symptoms get severe of if any of these does not go away:

• Stomach pain


• Nausea


• Vomiting


• Heartburn


• Headache


• Urinary urgency


• Diarrhea


• Vaginal itching or discharge

There are more serious side effects and this warrants emergency medical help:

• Hives, itching


• Difficulty in breathing or swallowing


• Tingling sensation in areas of the body


• Rashes or blisers


• Severe diarrhea that may occur with or without fever as well as stomach cramps


• Unusual bruising or bleeding


• Extreme fatigue


• Seizure, confusion, dizziness, fainting


• Jaundice


• Mental changes; depression, hallucination, suicidal ideation


• Anxiety or restlessness


• Insomnia


• Tremors
